Abstract
Environmental issues are not a foreign matter in this country, especially issues involving river pollution. River pollution will affect, economic activities, health conditions, etc. in human life. The objective of this study was to discuss community awareness in dealing with the issue of pollution of the Meru River by using indicators of knowledge, impact, and action. This study uses a quantitative method through a questionnaire involving a total of 33 community respondents living in the Sungai Meru area. Respondents were selected at simple random to be involved in the data collection process. Data were analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0 to obtain frequency and percentage values. The results of the study that mostly found, the community's source of knowledge about Sungai Meru pollution was based on their own observations, their understanding of Sungai Meru's primary cause of pollution is the outcome of production and domestic sewage activities. As for the pollution effect of Sungai Meru, it smells bad and the environment is dirty. This study has the potential to provide an overview and understanding to the community to deal with the issue of river pollution. In addition, it is hoped that this study will be able to be an important reference for the authorities in formulating holistic strategies and interventions for the well -being of the community and the environment
