Abstract
E-waste management is one of the complex dilemmas in most countries, yet it is still
new in Sabah. E-waste can be defined as any discarded electrical and electronic
equipment such as mobile phone, air conditioner, refrigerator and many more. Proper Ewaste
management are essential in ensuring harmful environment that contribute in
human health. The objective of this study is to analyse the level of public awareness and
the E-waste practice among the public in Sepanggar area. This study is significant to
shed more light on the issues regarding E-waste management in Malaysia especially in
Sabah. The data and information used in this study were collected by distributing 300
questionnaires randomly in Sepanggar area. However, there were only 296 that have
been submitted back to researchers. Besides that, this study also used secondary
method such reviewing document from both online and offline resources. All the
information gathered is important to bring some ideas in conducting the research. The
results indicate that the majority of the respondent has moderate level of awareness
(mean of 3.29) while level of practice also have moderate level (mean 3.06). Weak
positive relationship between level of awareness and level of practice are also revealed
in this research. Although review showed that demographic background such as age
and type of employment contribute to level of awareness, this study pointed out the
opposite result.
