Abstract

This study is conducted in several of secondary school at urban and suburban area in order to determine the vandalism actions. This study shows factors, types, levels, causes, vandalism impacts and also strategy to prevent and control vandalism. Furthermore, this study also considers on cost loss due to the vandalism defects. Questionnaires are used to obtain the required information. From the survey, it shows that the majority of the respondents consider writing and scratching the facilities surface and damaging facilities are among the most seriousness vandalism in this study area. The vandalism acts occurs especially in toilet areas. As a result, it brings some negative impacts to the management department. Formulating certain designs and rules can help in preventing and controlling vandalism in this study area. In addition to that, the results from this study can assist the management and administration of each case study to improve the quality of facilities and environment. Based on the study, it is hoped that the number of vandalism incidents could be reduced.
