MARA Institute of Technology has launched its inception on January 1, 1985 by YAB Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib , Chief Minister of Perak . Campus is a campus of the eighth of 12 in ITM campuses across the country, including the main campus in Shah Alam. The establishment of this campus was conducted in collaboration with the Perak State Government. Accordingly, the State Government of Perak, Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) had rented several houses shops and terraced houses to ITM Silver as a temporary campus in Bandar Baru Seri Manjung which is located approximately 86 km to the West of Ipoh City. In the early years of this campus consists of 6 units of double storey shophouses and supplemented from time to time to be 15 units as administrative offices , lecture rooms , student dormitories , library , prayer room , dining hall and store .Addition of 31 units of single storey terrace house has been rented as a dormitory for the placement of students. The first intake of 200 students, which in January 1985 following the Diploma in Accounting , Diploma in Public Administration , Diploma in Business Studies and a Diploma in Secretarial Science . While the pilot staff, there were 21 academic staff and 45 non-academic staff.
