Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the knowledge of lecturers at UiTM Dungun about Wasiyyah included the general knowledge of Wasiyyah, specific knowledge on pillars of Wasiyyah and also the current practices of Wasiyyah in Malaysia today. It is commonly believe that, Muslim assumes that the law of inheritance (faraidh) is the perfect mechanism in wealth distribution after one’s death. However, Wasiyyah actually is essential to ensure the priority of any individual is upheld. The finding of this study show that the majority of lecturers are alert and familiar with the term Islamic will or Wasiyyah but they only expert on basic knowledge. When explore more detail about Wasiyyah and current practices of wasiyyah, they have no clear idea or understanding about it. This paper attempts to explore into the definition of wasiyyah, its benefit and general principles of wasiyyah. This paper also describes wasiyyah management practice in Malaysia today. Other than that, the result from this study most of lecturers has little knowledge about Wasiyyah because of poor knowledge dissemination or promotion. Finally, the researcher makes a conclusion and recommendation by providing a few suggestions to enhance the knowledge amongst lecturers.
