Abstract
The effects of nanoparticles AI2O3 addition on the superconducting properties of EuBa2Cu307-8 such as critical temperature (Tc), resistivity, phase formation and system of crystal structure were investigated. Samples were formed by using conventional solid state reaction method by adding AI2O3 from 0.0 wt% to 0.4 wt%. Increasing the addition of AI2O3 has generally increased the critical temperature (Tc) for-0.0 wt% and 0.2 wt%. Results showed that the Tc was increase on 0.0 wt% and 0.2 wt% but slightly decrease on 0.4 wt%. At 0.2 wt%, the Tc onset was 93.2 K and Tc zero was 84.2 K. Therefore, further addition of AI2O3 has resulted in the decrease of the Tc. When oxygen was quenched from the compound, superconductivity properties was lost and the compound showed an insulating behaviour. Increasing the addition of AI2O3 content does not change the phase of EuBa2Cu307.g but change the structural system. Result showed that the lattice parameter of the compound for 0.0 wt% to 0.4 wt% was found to be orthorhombic but was found to change to tetragonal when O2 was quenched from the sample. Therefore, the addition of nanoparticles AI2O3 enhanced superconducting but 02 quenched sample loses its superconductivity.
