A comparative study between government and private Malaysian primary schools on challenges faced by the music teachers in schools / Mirza Batrisya Nasarudin

Music teachers plays important role in school's organization. However, they faced issues and challenges that affected their teaching and also student's learning. Lack of music facilities and equipment, short lesson period, music room space and usage are some of the issues faced by most music teachers in school. If these issues are not resolved, future music teachers will also face these issues and challenges from years to years and our future generation will lack of music education, experiences and exposure. This study examines the challenges faced by the music teachers in both government and private primary schools and factors affecting the challenges. Results of eight music teachers from both government and private primary schools showed that the challenges faced" by the teachers are regarding to the schools events and performances. Government schools teachers are having problems with the usage of music room for practicing. Each school has only one music room that can use for teaching and other activities. Sometimes they need to schedule the usage of music room in order to make sure all music teachers can use the music room equally. This study also discussed other issues and challenges and also factors affecting thesis. It also provides suggestions for future research.
