The 2017 Industrial Training Session is compulsory for Diploma students of Civil Engineering course in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM). The training is conducted for 8
weeks in total for second year student. The trainees need to undergo at least 80 percent from the designated duration of industrial training period.
During this training session, I have been placed under SWCORP Company where the scope of work is to monitor the performance of the concessionaire involved in the provision of solid waste management and public cleansing services, to recommend policies and strategies of solid waste management and public cleansing services to National Solid Waste Management Department (JPSPN).
For week's division, I have been placed under Office the whole training session and only certain days for a week, went to the transfer station site followed by their staff. There are many technical works I have learned during this training ranging from inventory work, one stop centre (OSC), facilities and process in landfill, site and snowflake system, and incinerator machines. Then, I have been to Facility department to learn under three sections which is operation, section and contract & quantity surveying section.
From this, I have learnt a lot of new things within the training periods even though the scope of work is different from civil engineering. Moreover, I am not only could generates hard skills ability but also could improve my soft skill ability from activity such as office work and presentation.
