Design of facilities for wheelchair user at handicap training institution / Marlia Omar

In 22th century, Malaysia has been developed extensively. Many construction projects come in various types have been done in developing this country. However, it is difficult to find friendly school building with full requirements so on the design of facilities that are needed by handicappers. The construction sector in Malaysia did not take charge of this special requirement. The aim of this dissertation is to study the design of facilities provided for wheelchair users at the handicapped school and at the same time to acquaint the facilities to be applicable in Malaysia. This dissertation is done also to study the design of facilities are followed by guidelines and Malaysian Standard requirements for all thing in handicapped school. To support this research, one (1) government institution building , one (1) private institution building and Jabatan Kebajikan Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam have been taken as case studies. In addition, the requirement and equipments of the facilities for wheelchair users at handicap institution building were gathered through structured interview, books and manuals and adopted information were critically analyses. From this study, the author hopes that it would give clear perception to the reader on design of facilities required by handicap planning institution.
