The maintenance of the fire safety equipment at public hospital / Siti Rohani Ishak

The preparation of this disertation was mainly motivated by the desire to provide an overview of awareness for fire safety at public hospital. These are intended to establish the good practice for adopted in the event of any emergency situation. The study has specific aim and objectives to achieve in the end. In short these are the aim and the objective of this study. The primary aim of this research is to understand the characteristic of fire, identify what specific regulation and requirement are provide, study and understand the fire safety equipment also the function, analyse the related data with fire safety equipment in the case study and identify the effective preventive maintenance (PM indicater) with consider maintenance policy and recommend for further action The dissertation is divided into seven (7) chapters that cover the development of the study from the background investigation and research to the final conclusions and comments. This dissertation including outlines the introduction to the subjects, background, and objectives of the research. The problem statements, limitation of research and scope of research are also explained in this chapter 1. Chapter 2 described the characteristic of fire. The characteristic of fire is described in detail in this chapter, which has definition of fire, element of fire and the effect of fire. Meaning of maintenance and maintenance programmer also will explain in this chapter. Chapter 3 shows the equipment of fire safety, the component and function of equipment. The information are illustrated and described in detail what matter to be considered in fire safety equipment for occupant and other. Chapter 4 explain the requirement on fire safety equipment from Uniform Building By Law, Malaysia Standard and other legislation are in tribute like British Standard. Beside that, the operation will be explained on this chapter Chapter 5 highlights the research methodology have been applied in this study according to the desk research and field research. Based on desk study, it will focus on examining the literature review, which has been obtained from books, journals, magazine and other materials. The field research has been conducted by unstructured personal interviews and makes a survey at the site to check the requirement for equipment of fire safety followed at the site study. Chapter 6 discussed on the statistical data analysis which has been gathered from the interview and then it will analysed according to the comparison. Lastly chapter summarized the conclusion from the research findings of the study and from conclusion the recommendations will find out for future improvement in maintenance programme.
