Abstract
This thesis paper aims to explore the relationship of energy, GDP and trade openness
to the environmental degradation in the case of Malaysia. CO2 are represent the
environmental degradation.We use time series analysis with time period from
1970-2014. This study utilize ADF and PP unit root test and ordinary least square
method in order to explore the relationship between environmental degradation and
selected economic variables. It was found that only energy has negative relationship
with CO2, while GDP and trade openness are found to have positive relationship with
CO2. This study conclude that government should develop program that create
awareness to public especially to industries regarding environmental pollution and
encourage them to use green technologies to control the release of CO2.
