The factors that influence waqf management in developing projects to reduce poverty in Kelantan / Siti Rawaida Mat Puad

Waqf today can play an important role as the needs of the Muslim Ummah are complex and growing. Many projects are developed under waqf management in order to help people especially poor people in our country.In Malaysia, waqf property administration, management and development is in the hand of Majlis Agama Islam of every state. The study is done by getting data and information at Majlis Agama Islam Kelantan (MAIK) by using secondary data which is data that related about waqf management are from that institution. The period of study is from 1996 until 2009. The purpose of the study is to observe whether the number of poor people in Kelantan, amount of waqf funds and also size of waqf lands influencing the number of development of waqf projects in Kelantan. Findings of the study show that only two independent variables have significant influence which are the number of poor people in Kelantan and also amount of waqf funds. The research methodology use for this study is by using the secondary data from the in MAIK. Meanwhile, in analyzing the data of the Statistical Procedure of Social System is being used in order to transfer the data into output. As a conclusion from the study, the number of poor people in Kelantan and also amount of waqf funds are influencing the number of development waqf projects in Kelantan.
