Abstract

This dissertation is about The Comparison Of The Traditional Malay House Before ‘Merdeka’ in three states in Peninsular Malaysia, which is Negeri Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Negeri Kedah. Objective of this study is to compare the house architecture in each states and variety of elements in traditional Malay house. The comparisons that have been made include many aspects that are roofing, staircase, opening, wall and decorations. The methodology that has been used was comparing those house elements and architecture in three states. As a result, the conclusion is each states have their own house characteristics and the elements as a symbol of their own identity.
