Sustainable infrastructure construction context in Seberang Perai Tengah, Pulau Pinang: an overview of economic perceptions and challenges / Nur Farah Asyikin Abdull Rahim

Sustainable construction plays a significant role in improving the application of sustainable policies in the construction sector. Although there is a process of change towards the implementation of green strategies nowadays, limited research has been conducted to search the challenges that block the sustainable infrastructure construction movement in Pulau Pinang. This researched was intended to fill this gap in the literature and contribute to the field of knowledge regarding sustainable infrastructure construction in Seberang Perai Tengah, Pulau Pinang. The findings would be of interest to both government and business practitioners in expanding the market for sustainable infrastructure construction. The data presented in this research are mainly obtained from a comprehensive questionnaire survey developed based on a literature review. The questionnaire was completed by professionals who are interested in this topic or who have been involved in sustainable projects. The findings from the survey have been analysed in detail by a variety of statistical approaches. The software that used to develop those statistical methods was Statistical Packages for Social Sciences Version 23 (SPSS). The findings shall assist in understanding the real economic challenges that have been confronting by the practitioners in the construction industry in Seberang Perai Tengah, Pulau Pinang. Finally, recommendations are presented for future researchers to propel the construction sector towards sustainability.
