Enhancement of public facilities at Teluk Ketapang recreation area : a case study of Teluk Ketapang recreation area, Kuala Terengganu / Wan Nur Aqilah Wan Azhar

Teluk Ketapang recreation area has a high potential to become a recreational centre of choice for the community. However, there are some shortcomings in terms of the provision of public facilities that occur here including the inadequacy of facilities as well as damage to the facilities provided. Data obtained through an observations and questionnaires surveys. Then, the evaluation is done from the data collected to investigate the elements of facilities provided in the recreational area of Teluk Ketapang and the problems that occur related to public facilities. The questionnaires forms were distributed to 30 respondents who are visitors who came to visit the recreational area of Teluk Ketapang. Information from findings is obtained through data analysis and it is used for future planning proposals for the study site. Among the elements that are taken into account to improve the quality of public facilities at the study area include the public facilities that have been provided, problems caused by the lack of facilities that should be available as well as the satisfaction of visitors. It was found that the lack of parking caused the road to be congested, the lack of playground facilities reduced recreational activities, the lack of water pipes made it difficult for visitors to do picnic activities, the site was less clean causing visitors to feel uncomfortable and lack of facility maintenance activities making this facility unsafe to be used .
