Recreational park provision at Taman Rekreasi Awam Sembilang, Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang / Muhammad Danial Afif Rosli

The provision of recreational park is one of the facilities that provided by the Local Authority (PBT) for the community used to do a recreational activities in their leisure times. The good provision of recreational park will influence the visitors come to the recreational park. However, most of the provision at recreational parks nowadays generally still no satisfy and does not
meet the guidelines standards. Thus, the study aim to determine the provision of Taman Rekreasi Awam Sembilang, Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang because there are some issues and problems in this area such as poor of soft-scape elements, lack of facilities and unused of resources for the recreational park. The objectives to achieve the goals are to identify the hierarchy of recreational park in Malaysia, to identify the condition of landscape elements and facilities equipment at the study area and propose the recommendations based on the analysis at study area. Besides, two types of data collection that be used in this study which is primary data and secondary data. Primary data that be used is observation on Google Street View and
Google Earth while the secondary data are referring on journal, article, book and website research to gain more information about the study area. Then, ticking on the inventory form during observation as the technique to determine the availability, quantities and condition of
existing soft-scape elements and facilities equipment that provides in the study area. Based on the analysis and findings, its show the study area are insufficient of soft-scape element and facilities requirement, poor of landscape design and beautification elements, bad condition and lack maintenance of soft-scape and facilities equipment. Therefore, to solve the issues and problem, some recommendations are be propose involves the provision of new soft-scape planting and facilities and also maintenance such of soft-scape and facilities in the study area. Lastly, the result of the study it is hope that the study can contribute to the improvement of recreational park provision at Taman Rekreasi Awam Sembilang that guarantee the satisfaction of visitors in line with the current needs of the visitors.
