Abstract
This study is carried out to study the flash flood management Taman Tunku, Miri housing area, factors and the effects of flash floods . Flash flood will occur when it rains heavily and does not stop for at least 6 hours. Malaysia will experience these flash floods every year as
Malaysia has a monsoon season at the end of the year and early years. This research aim is to study the flash flood management and drainage system that can cause natural disaster such as flash floods at the study area. This research is based on data that has been obtained from survey questionnaire and interview by interviewing the residents in Taman Tunku and the officer in charges at department of irrigation and drainage also as a respondent to the
questionnaires.The data was analyzed to evaluate and determine the factors and effects of flash flood. In this study, the drainage systems is one of the most important infrastructure in any development such as housing. The researcher suggest a proper design and maintenance of drainage system can solve the problem of this natural disaster.In final chapter, it is recommendation that the study can contribute to the improvement of flash flood
management in Taman Tunku, Miri, Sarawak.There are several findings that have been identified and highlighted referring to the data analysis that already has been conducted which is the housing area are lack of rainwater catchment areas, the factors of flash flood occurred were due to the damage of drainage system and clogged drain also effects of flash floods are infrastructure and utilities damage.
