Abstract
Hevea brasiliensis commonly known as rubber is one of the major plantation crops in Malaysia. Commonly, termite is one of the pests attack the rubber trees. Termites generally start to attack the rubber tree during immature stage of rubber. Through this study, the incidence of termite nest and its trail in the rubber plantation can be observed. Termite usually builds its nest on the upper part of rubber stem, rubber tree’s base and at the ground. This study aims to compare the incidence of the termite that attack the rubber tree on the flat and terrace area toward the rubber clone of RRIM 600. This study had been conducted by using Complete Randomized Design (CRD). The increase of termite population will affect the growth of tree and also its yield. Result shows that high incidence of termite attacks the rubber trees is at the terrace area. The factor that contributes to this study is rubber tree at the terrace area is older compared to the rubber tree on flat area. The age of rubber tree at terrace area is 13 years old compared to the flat area consist of 10 years old rubber trees. The suitable environment can make the termite become active. Therefore, by doing sanitation activity can reduces the population of termite for breeding and nesting.
