Mobile app development to support Malaysia sign language (MSL) communication and learning

Afiqah, Hani (2026) Mobile app development to support Malaysia sign language (MSL) communication and learning. [Student Project]
Abstract

In order to address the significant communication obstacles that Malaysia's Deaf community has, this project suggests creating a top-notch, culturally appropriate mobile application that will let Deaf and hearing people communicate. Despite the fact that thousands of Deaf Malaysians rely on Malaysian Sign Language (MSL), the community's access to vital public services is severely restricted and social isolation results from the severe lack of standardized, interactive, and publicly accessible digital learning tools. In order to address this, the project employs a User-Centred Design (UCD) methodology to guarantee that the application accurately represents the demands and lived experiences of its users.
