The construction industry remains hindered by fragmented, inefficient, and vulnerable supply chains that contribute to cost overruns, schedule delays, and environmental impacts. Although digitalisation offers potential solutions, the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Construction Supply Chain Management (CSCM) has often been examined through isolated applications rather than through an integrated performance lens. This paper conducts a systematic literature review to synthesise how AI supports CSCM efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. Following PRISMA 2020 guidance, Scopus and Web of Science were searched for English-language studies and relevant scholarly sources published from 1994 to May 2025. From 1,452 records initially identified, 347 duplicates were removed, 1,105 records were screened, 140 full texts were assessed, and 28 sources were included in the qualitative synthesis. The review identifies three main application streams: machine-learning-based forecasting and optimisation for procurement, logistics, and equipment management; digital twins and predictive analytics for disruption anticipation and adaptive response; and AI-enabled waste minimisation, circular material flows, and carbon-aware supplier and logistics decisions. The synthesis shows that AI can create synergies among efficiency, resilience, and sustainability, but it can also generate trade-offs when single-objective optimisation dominates. The paper contributes an AI-Driven Cognitive CSCM Framework linking data infrastructure, AI analytics, application layers, and human-AI governance. The review further identifies data fragmentation, organisational resistance, interoperability limits, cybersecurity exposure, human-AI trust, and algorithmic ethics as priority barriers for future research and implementation.
