Comparison of attacking and defending styles between top three and bottom three teams in the UEFA Champions League 2023/24

Performance analysis using objective match metrics provides key insights into tactical success in elite football tournaments like the UEFA Champions League. To explore how tactical execution differentiates elite clubs, this quantitative study conducted a systematic notational analysis comparing the top three and bottom three teams from the twenty twenty three to twenty twenty-four season across three matches each. By evaluating core attacking and defending indicators such as possession, passing, goals, tackles, and recoveries through statistical testing, the research identifies distinct performance factors that separate high performing and low performing teams.
