Abstract

Working in a regional and global operation have forced e-learning effectiveness at workplace to be one of the top priorities for most international organizations including some Government Linked Companies (GLCs) in Malaysia. As some of these prominent organizations may operates globally, they facilitate many opportunities for their executive employees to undergo e-learning programs. Key contributors towards the e-learning effectiveness such as course, trainee, and the organization itself play its role in making those e-learning courses effective. Those ultimatums can also be achieved through many forms and additionally, there are numerous criteria other than course, trainee, and organization that can improve or reduce the effectiveness. This research thus, proposed a new conceptual framework in e-learning effectiveness study by validating the antecedents of course, trainee, and organization through taxonomical perspectives and testing moderation effect of e-leadership towards user satisfaction and the dependent variable. The population of this study is narrowed down to the executives of GLCs home-based in Klang Valley. Data collection was made via 200 self-distributed questionnaires in the parent study through non-random sampling technique. A total of 190 usable questionnaires was analysed using the latest PLS-SEM technique and reporting procedures. To conclude, result showed that trainee and organization were positively significant to user satisfaction. Course, however, did not positively significant to user satisfaction. While user satisfaction is positively significant to e-learning effectiveness, all course, trainee and organization are not positively significant to e-learning effectiveness. E-leadership also was found to not moderating user satisfaction and e-learning effectiveness taxonomy. The results of this research should offer a broader perspective on e-learning effectiveness and provide additional insights on how organizations can contribute to improving e-learning effectiveness, which in turn will enhance employee performance within the GLCs in Malaysia.
