Issues faces by public in Klang Valley during construction of mass rapid transit (KVMRT) Line 2 - Sungai Buloh - Serdang - Putrajaya (SSP)

KL MRT Line 2, known as the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) line will be the twelfth rail transit line, the fourth fully automated and driverless rail system in Klang Valley area. Construction of the line is due to begin in June 2016 and with a targeted operational date of currently earmarked for the fourth quarter of 2022. Thus Malaysia facing with an explosive growth in vehicle ownership and utilization, which led to traffic congestion and pollution. The objective of this research is to identify which issues is higher during the construction and suggest the way to reduce the issues. The important of suggestion will give benefit for the civilian itself. The aim of this research is to identify what is the issues faces by public in Klang Valley during construction of Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) LINE 2 - Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP). The scope of this research is focusing on the public at Kentonmen Station and Bandar Kepong Station of MRT2. A total of 107 respondent questionnaires was distributed to the respondents. The result showed the major issues is traffic congestion. The data is collected using quantitative method and then transferred to SPSS software to analyzed and the outcome of the analysis has been presented in the form of table and chart. From the obtained result, the respondent suggests that the operation of dump trucks or vehicle for bring material and machineries should be operating off peak traffic hours. From there, the study concludes the most important way to solve the issues is Traffic Management Plan (TMP). TMP is a plan established to clearly direct and control traffic disruptions that call to coordinated actions from several services responsible for road and traffic management on a given road or network.
