Teen Deen Squad (TDS): the explore race builds confidence through sustainable activities

The Teen Deen Squad (TDS): The Explore Race programme was successfully conducted with the participation of 10 teams from the UiTM Dengkil Foundation Centre. The programme combined team-based challenges with sustainability education, promoting teamwork, communication, self-confidence, and environmental responsibility. Participants completed two sustainability-focused tasks: waste segregation and recycling. In the waste segregation activity, students identified and sorted different types of waste, including plastics, bottles, paper, and other materials, into the appropriate recycling bins. They also delivered recyclable items such as plastic bottles, paper, and cardboard to the designated recycling collection centre, reinforcing the importance of responsible waste management. Programme evaluation showed high participant satisfaction, with students reporting improved self-confidence, stronger teamwork, and greater awareness of sustainable practices in their daily lives. By integrating character development with environmental education, the programme demonstrated that simple everyday actions, such as waste segregation, recycling, and maintaining campus cleanliness, can contribute significantly to environmental sustainability. The initiative also reflects UiTM's commitment to nurturing responsible and environmentally conscious students.
