Application MYCESMM2 in preparing bill of quantities for civil engineering works

Bill of quantities is a document that provides a uniform basis for the measurement of constructions work which is building works and civil engineering works, with the aim of ensuring that the quantity bills (BQ) produced fully describe and accurately represent the quantity and quality of the works to be carried out. As a quantity surveyor, MyCESMM2 is the uniform basis to measuring the civil engineering works item and embodies the essentials of good practice to do the BQ by using the specification provided. In addition, to order to make a good bill of quantities, the rules and requirements set out in the MyCESMM2 must be followed. The purpose of this study is to determine the application of MyCESMM2 in preparing the bill of quantities for civil engineering works and to identify the factors that influenced the application of MyCESMM2 in preparing the bill of quantities (BQ) for civil engineering works. Document observation and the semi structured interview methods were used to represent the data into the best results of the study. Five (5) respondent were involved in this data collection from each quantity surveying consultants firm in Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur and five (5) respondent were involved in the semi structured interviews. The results indicate that the application of MyCESMM2 determine the most of the quantity surveying firms do not apply the MyCESMM2 in preparing the BQ for civil engineering works.
