Abstract

Herbs and spices have been used for centuries to enhance the flavor of food, preserve food from spoiling during storage, and treat or prevent human ailments. Herbs and spices are often considered safe for human consumption compared to conventional treatments because of their long history of use in food preparation. They are utilized in food either in their natural state such as whole or ground material or as extracts, which is more common. Zingiber officinale and Curcuma longa have long been recognized as health-promoting agents, and their extracts have been studied as alternative remedies for a variety of conditions. These spices are also commonly utilized in pharmaceutical products. (Akullo et al., 2023)
