Univrab-UiTM inbound programme: academic exchange and student experience

This article investigates the pedagogical impacts, cross-cultural dynamics, and holistic outcomes of international student mobility through a case study of the Univrab-UiTM Inbound Programme. As a structured academic exchange initiative between Universitas Abdurrab (Indonesia) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM, Malaysia), this program serves as an operational framework for regional internalization in higher education. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach alongside student experience surveys, this paper evaluates how inbound mobility enhances students' academic competencies, global perspectives, and soft skills. The study delves into key thematic areas of the student experience, including collaborative research opportunities, exposure to distinct institutional curricula, and the challenges of cultural adaptation within Southeast Asian higher education ecosystems. The findings demonstrate that cross-border academic exchanges act as powerful catalysts for fostering regional solidarity, accelerating personal growth, and improving graduate employability. Ultimately, this documentation highlights the strategic importance of sustained bilateral university partnerships in producing culturally agile, globally competitive, and socially responsible future professionals.
