Peace, justice, and strong institutions: why they matter

UiTM, Faculty of Civil Engineering (2025) Peace, justice, and strong institutions: why they matter. Bulletin. Faculty of Civil Engineering, Shah Alam.

Abstract

Fostering peaceful societies, ensuring access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable institutions are foundational requirements for sustainable global development. This paper examines how conflict, corruption, and weak governance undermine economic growth, violate human rights, and trap communities in cycles of insecurity. It highlights the critical importance of strengthening institutional transparency, promoting the rule of law, and protecting fundamental freedoms to prevent violence and instability. By analyzing collaborative frameworks between governments and civil societies, the study underscores that robust institutions are essential for maintaining social cohesion and securing lasting peace.
