Abstract
This article documents and analyses the implementation of a two-day collaborative teaching and training programme strategically organised by the Department of Foodservice Management, Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management (FPHP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang Branch, Permatang Pauh Campus, in collaboration with the Food and Beverage Department of Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) Penang. Conducted on 29 and 30 December 2025, the programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the clinical practices of foodservice operations within the private healthcare sector. The programme featured the expertise of Ms. Amysyazana, an outstanding alumna of the UiTM Diploma in Foodservice Management programme who currently serves as a Supervisor in the Dietetic Assistant Department at SMC Penang, as the invited trainer. Through an immersive approach comprising observation of current operational practices on the first day and practical training sessions accompanied by operational improvement recommendations on the second day, the programme facilitated direct knowledge transfer and the application of dynamic industry standards. The findings demonstrate that institutional synergy and alumni engagement play a crucial role in aligning university curricula with industry requirements, enhancing student adaptability, and producing competent, industry-ready graduates capable of meeting the demands of the modern professional landscape.
