Abstract

The usage and development of effective procurement processes aids in the avoidance of difficulties and is essential for achieving project-specific objectives. To ensure the success of the project and the best possible value for the client's money, a systematic and consistent strategy to procurement selection is required. Despite the plethora of approaches and tools available to stakeholders in selecting an acceptable procurement method, clients must set the selection criteria for a specific construction project in order to meet project goals and objectives. By using the suitable procurement method, it can enhance the contract delivery system in completing the projects. The aim of this research is to propose the best strategy for selecting appropriate procurement method for public university works' contract. Aligned with the aims, three (3) objectives has been outline, there are (i) to investigate the implementation of choosing suitable procurement method for public university works' contract, (ii) to identify the important criteria in selecting appropriate procurement method and (iii) to suggest appropriate strategy to be implemented when selecting suitable procurement method for public university works' contract. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative approach via case study using semi-structured interviews was adopted to gathered data for this research. 3 case study have been selected based on the established pre-determined criteria. A purposive sampling technique was adopted for the data collection. A number of seven (7) experts from quantity surveying background were involved in this interview sessions were that are selected based on the pre-determined criteria.
