Abstract

FOLIMA is a unique tissue storage solution that draws inspiration from the beautiful architectural heritage of Rumah Limas in Johor, Malaysia. It’s designed not just to meet practical needs but also to preserve cultural values, making it perfect for hotel environments where traditional elements and storytelling can truly enhance the guest experience. The shape of FOLIMA mirrors the iconic sloping roof of Rumah Limas, and its surface features the pucuk rebung motif, which symbolizes growth and humility in Malay culture. The design is centered around three key principles: honoring heritage, aesthetic appeal, and using eco- friendly materials. FOLIMA is made from sustainable resources like renewable wood and biodegradable materials, promoting environmentally friendly practices in hospitality. Its compact size and attractive design make it a great fit for various hotel room interiors, especially those that celebrate local identity and cultural expression. By blending cultural artistry with sustainable material choices, FOLIMA transforms from just a functional tissue box into a meaningful decor piece that showcases Malaysia’s rich heritage. It offers hotels a distinctive accessory that not only enhances room aesthetics but also encourages guests to appreciate the local culture.
