Abstract
The O’Neat Sorting Crate System is a smart and practical dish return unit designed to keep the MADAD Dining Hall cleaner and more organised after meals. It helps reduce mess and makes it easier for people to return their used dishes. The crate has clearly marked sections for plates, cups, utensils, and food waste, so it’s easy to know where everything goes. It's built at a comfortable height, is lightweight, and has handles, making it simple to move, clean, and use in different spots around the dining area. To make things even easier, the design uses colour coding and clear visual signs, so people can sort their items without needing instructions. It’s made from strong, affordable materials, which makes it a good fit for busy public spaces. When we tested it, the system helped keep the dining area tidier and encouraged more people to return their dishes properly. The O’Neat crate is a simple and flexible solution that not only improves the dining experience but could also work well in other shared meal spaces.
