GD Express Sdn Bhd

This report provides a comprehensive overview of my internship experience at GD Express Sdn Bhd (GDEX), where I was placed in the Finance Department under the Budgeting and Consolidating Team, Accounts Receivable (AR) Team and General Ledger (GL) Team. The primary objective of this internship was to gain practical exposure to financial operations within a leading logistics company and apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during my studies at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The report begins with an introduction to GDEX, covering its background, vision, mission, and core business activities. As one of Malaysia’s top logistics service providers, GDEX specializes in express delivery, freight services, and e-commerce fulfillment, with a strong focus on technological integration to enhance service efficiency. The company’s well-structured financial operations play a crucial role in ensuring smooth transactions and financial stability, particularly in handling revenue collection and managing outstanding payments. Throughout my internship, I was assigned various tasks related to accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payment reconciliation, debt collection follow-ups, and financial reporting. These tasks allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of financial record-keeping, credit control, and the importance of maintaining a company’s cash flow. Additionally, I had the opportunity to collaborate with different departments, enhancing my communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a corporate setting. This report also highlights the challenges I encountered, such as managing large volumes of financial data and adapting to the fast-paced work environment. However, through guidance from my supervisor and colleagues, I was able to overcome these challenges and improve my technical and soft skills. Overall, this internship has been an enriching learning experience that has provided me with valuable industry insights and practical skills essential for my future career in finance. The knowledge gained during this period has not only strengthened my understanding of financial operations but has also prepared me to navigate the complexities of the corporate world.
