Abstract
From January to June 2024, the Faculty of Accountancy at UiTM Puncak Alam successfully implemented a solar powered hydroponic farming project as part of its commitment to supporting UiTM’s green campus initiative. The project aimed to enhance the faculty's surroundings, promote sustainable and modern agriculture, and instil environmental awareness among staff and students. Vegetables such as spinach, mustard greens, and pak choi were cultivated using a soil-free method that is clean, space-efficient, and eco-friendly. The initiative received strong support from the faculty community, with the green committee overseeing plant care and maintenance. Participants were also trained in essential hydroponic techniques, including nutrient management, pH control, and harvesting practices. beyond its aesthetic value, the project made a meaningful social impact by distributing the harvested produce to cleaning staff, aligning with sustainable development goal (SDG) 2 – zero hunger. This initiative not only fostered a sense of shared responsibility but also demonstrated the faculty’s active role in promoting sustainability. moving forward, there are hopes to expand the project, encouraging a lasting green culture across the campus.
