Abstract
The International Malaysian Society for Maritime Law (IMSML) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Human Resources and maritime related policies in Malaysia, in order to keep Malaysia competitive internationally. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irwin UJ Ooi (UiTMLaw's Head of Advocacy and Dispute Resolution) has been a member since its inception. Recently, Dr. Ooi was invited to speak at its Certificate Course in Maritime Law, at Double Tree, Hilton, JB. The course ran from 19-21 August 2019, and was partially subsidised by the Malaysian Government. Dr. Ooi was a Course Director together with Shipping Law stalwarts Jeremy Joseph (Joseph and Partners), Wan Hilwanie Ariff (Ariff and Co), Clive Navin (Christopher Lee Ong) and Trishlea Ann (Skrine). Dr. Ooi's focus for the course was charterparties and bills of lading. Participants attending the course were from various sectors of the maritime industry from ports, to logistics companies, shipowners and regulatory authorities.
