Abstract

On 5 - 9 August 2019, UiTMLaw, through its Centre of Environmental Law, Governance and Policy (CelGOP) hosted the 17th IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium 2019 together with the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law. The IUCN Academy of Environmental Law is an international network of approximately 200 environmental law faculties and research centres from 60 countries. The theme chosen for the 17th I UCN Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium 2019, is 'Achieving Sustainable Development Goals {SDGs): Law as Part of the Solution' to enable both established and emerging scholars in environmental law and other related disciplines to contribute in addressing the common and different needs of societies. The Colloquium was held over for 5 days at the Asian International Arbitration Centre {AIAC), Kuala Lumpur. The opening address for the plenary session was by YBrs. Pn Nor Aziah Binti Jaafar, Director, Department of Environment, Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur followed by the welcome speech by YBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Rahmat Mohamad, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry, Community, Alumni (ICAN). Universiti Teknologi MARA. The Keynote Speaker was Professor Elizabeth Kirk, who is also the Chair of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law.
