Evaluating the effectiveness of hands-on workshop in learning video editing skills by non-technical students

This study investigates the effectiveness of hands-on workshops in teaching video editing skills to non-technical students. Traditional classroom settings often struggle to impart practical skills, leading to a need for more engaging and interactive learning environments. This research focuses on evaluating the impact of a hands-on video editing workshop on students' technical proficiency and their understanding of montage elements. The study involved 26 students who participated in a hands-on video editing workshop. Pre- and post-workshop questionnaires were used to assess students' video editing skills and gather feedback on their learning experience. Paired t-tests were conducted to analyze the effectiveness of the workshop in improving students' skills. The findings demonstrate a significant improvement in students' video editing skills following the workshop. Participants showed marked progress in their technical abilities and a deeper understanding of montage elements, including sequencing, transitions, and pacing. The positive feedback received further suggests that hands-on workshops enhance students' confidence and motivation to learn video editing. This study concludes that hands-on workshops are a highly effective method for teaching video editing, offering a practical and engaging alternative to traditional approaches.
