The challenges of project team in conservation works of UNESCO heritage building

Heritage building conservation in Malaysia is still in its inception. Heritage building conservation in Malaysia has been successful during the last two decades, thanks to the successful implementation of the National Heritage Act 2005 and the National Heritage Department authority in 2006. With this kind of action, the effort in conserving heritage building that exist in Malaysia that starts from the previous generation were finally paid off the effort in conserving heritage building that exist in Malaysia. However, challenges like lack of professional skills, poor financial support and improper documentation have haunted the project team in the conservation works of heritage buildings. Due to this scenario, this research is mainly focused on the project team such as Client, Architect, Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, Building Surveyor and Conservator. This research was aimed is to determine the strategies for project team to challenges in conserving the heritage buildings in Malaysia. Apart from that, it is also has determined the factors that contributed to the challenges that faced by the project team and suggested the strategies that can be applied to overcome the challenges in conservation works. The data collection method is used a questionnaire survey and distributed to the project team who has experienced in the heritage conservation works. The software SPSS 25 is used for descriptive analysis to analyze data.
