Abstract
In Malaysia, institutions that provide care and support for orphans and children in need are commonly known as "children's homes" or "shelters." These facilities provide assistance and support to children who are orphans, have been abandoned, or come from disadvantaged circumstances. The initiative aims to provide assistance, education, and community service to orphans. It is also designed to provide students with the opportunity to acquire practical skills and develop affectionate relationships with orphans, while also raising their consciousness. Furthermore, this can facilitate pupils in acquiring novel knowledge through exposure to the external environment. The kids can enhance their cognitive and physical abilities by encountering diverse circumstances that will test their problem-solving skills. This program involves the implementation of many activities in collaboration with orphaned children, including group health and mental education programs, birthday celebrations with the orphans, and joint burger preparation activities. The health education provided by the two institutions aims to acquaint orphans with the principles of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, encompassing aspects such as personal hygiene and the importance of a well-balanced diet. The lectures are tailored to suit the specific needs and comprehension level of the youngsters, ensuring that they can easily apply the knowledge gained in their everyday life. UITM and UMM aim to enhance the community's knowledge, enhance health, and foster mutually advantageous collaborations. It is expected that this collaboration would serve as a model for other universities to actively contribute to the promotion of community well-being. This activity is intended to serve as a catalyst in establishing a transnational collaboration network that will contribute to the advancement of social development and community health. The partnership between the Faculty of Health Sciences, UiTM and UMM is anticipated to serve as a motivating model for other educational institutions in the implementation of community service initiatives that provide favorable outcomes.
