UiTMLaw students shine at the 40th Jean-Piccard Competition in Albania; nominated for the best speaker award

Students of the Faculty of Law UiTM (UiTMLaw), comprising Ms. Dayang Nur Afrina Afiqah Abang Jamuri, Ms. Wan Amiratul Husna Wan Usamah and Mr. Muhamad Irfan Jafri have represented UiTM in the 40th Edition of the Jean-Pictet Competition that was held in Durres, Albania. This was the first time UiTM Law students participated in the event, and the team was among the final 10 team from all over the world. The team advanced to the semi-finals, with Ms. Dayang Nur Afrina Afiqah nominated for the best speaker award or the Gilbert-Appolis award. The Jean Pictet Competition is unique as it attempts to simulate real-life scenarios reflecting the professional space occupied by the international community of international humanitarian law, Participants adopt different roles, such as legal advisers to ministries, National Red Cross delegates and special interest groups, to respond to legal issues in a hypothetical armed conflict scenario. In this year's competition, participants focused on issues. such as children participating in hostilities, environmental consequences of military targeting, detentions in noninternational armed conflicts, and the provision of humanitarian assistance.
