Visit Scholar Programme at PennLaw

Dr. Nadzriah Ahmad of UiTM Law has been selected as the award recIpIent of the Fulbright Scholarship for 2020/2021 by the J. William Foreign Fulbright Scholarship Board, Washington DC. As a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Law School (PennLaw), Dr. Nadzriah will undertake research work relevant to re-entry and rehabilitation programmes for juvenile offenders. At PennLaw, Professor Regina Austin will serve as her faculty sponsor and the school is very much looking forward to supporting her research on the restorative justice model for juveniles that would strengthen the existing legal framework governing the re-entry and rehabilitation programmes in Malaysia. PennLaw is one of the top five Ivy League law schools in the US. At Penn Law, Dr. Nadzriah, along with other visiting scholars and researchers, will be given opportunities to present her research as part of the workshop series. Her research would contribute to the betterment of the legal framework and policies governing the juvenile justice system in Malaysia. Dr. Nadzriah hopes that these valuable opportunities given to her will help to develop industrial linkages and open more doors for research collaboration between UiTM and the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Dr. Nadzriah hopes that her research work on juveniles can further contribute to the stakeholders in Malaysia, particularly the Social Welfare Department and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, so that the legal rights of children in the criminal justice system would be better protected.
