UiTMLaw Adjunct Professor Talk on Application of ljtihad in the Syariah Courts

On 7 July 2022. UiTMLaw hosted the annual Adjunct Professor Lecture Series and featured YAA Dato' Mohammad Adib Bin Husain, the Chief Syarie Judge of the Selangor State Sharia Justice Department. This lecture highlights the concept of ijtihad practised in the Syariah Court and the importance of understanding such a concept among judges. Among the current issues commented on by YAA Dato' is concerning the implementation and importance of ijtihad for judges in deciding the outcome of the case. ranging from the issue of the setting of the amounts for nafkah and issues relating to mut'ah. YAA Dato' concluded that the judge's ijtihad is an essential pillar within the Sharia Legal Framework to pro­mote the development of law and legislation.
