Abstract

The abandoned construction projects have become one of the significant issues in Malaysia. Even though the Malaysian government has controlled and implemented rules in the housing business, abandoned housing projects persist. Therefore, this research aims to study abandoned projects minimization from developers' perspectives. Thus, to achieve the aim of the study, 1) this research objective is to identify the causes of abandoned housing construction projects 2) To determine the impacts on an abandoned construction projects 3) To analyses solutions to abandoned building projects. A survey questionnaire had developed and conducted in Klang Valley where a total of 80 questionnaires were returned through "google form". The method of sampling for this research was purposive sampling. The samples are professional workers in the construction industry who work with developer companies such as quantity surveyors and engineers, which falls under the non-probability sampling method. There were 14 causes of abandoned construction projects that contributed to the abandoned construction projects. Then, the data was analyzed in descriptive analysis by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The data obtained were then analyzed to determine the reason for abandoned building projects.
