“Kamek ke sitok” touring towards enhancing knowledge

With the aim of fulfilling the requirements of the courses IMD314 and IMD313, 23 final semester group B students from the Faculty of Information Management, UiTM Sarawak Samarahan Campus 1, organised an academic visit to Kuala Lumpur from 28 to 31 January 2016. Our programme was called “Kamek Ke Sitok: Touring Towards Enhancing Knowledge” to gain new experience and knowledge from outside our boundaries. Our lecturer, Madam Suriani Jack, was given the responsibility to lead and monitor the programme. Our activities included visiting the National Archives of Malaysia and the National Museum of Malaysia, and the main activity was a programme at Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah (RKNH) located at Jalan Pimping Kanan, Ukay Height, Ampang Selangor. Under the programme, we gave a facelift to the reading area by applying the knowledge and skills that we have gained throughout the semesters such as the process of identification, dissemination, classification and arrangement of the library collections. This memorable moment gave us insights on the importance of gaining experience through hands-on rather than chalk and talk.
