Green technology material adoption: contractor's perspective

Affendi, Nurul Izzudin Ni'Matullah (2022) Green technology material adoption: contractor's perspective. [Student Project] (Unpublished)

Abstract

Green building materials, sometimes referred to as eco-friendly building materials, are used in building constructions with minimal negative influence on the surrounding natural environment. Rather than relying on depletable fossil fuels, they make use of renewable resources. The problem statement of this research is the high cost of the green building material, lack of awareness of adopting green building practices among construction players and availability of technology. The aim of the research is to identify the factors contributing to the lack of adoption of green building materials among contractors and find the method to increase its use in the future. To achieve the aim, this research has set the objectives to identify the green building material component commonly used in Malaysia, determine the factors that contribute to the lack of adoption of green building technology and recommend ways to increase the adoption of green building technology. This research adopts a quantitative method by using a questionnaire survey. The sampling method for this research is the purposive sampling method. The respondents of this research were selected from the Grade 7 contractors who registered with CIDB.
