Short-term outbound mobility programme to Rajamangala University of Technology, Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), Bangkok, Thailand

On the 15-17th December 2019, 15 students of Textile Science and Fashion Technology Program (TSFT), UiTM Shah Alam had participated in the Short-term Outbound Mobility Programme at the Rajamangala University of Technology, Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) Bangkok, Thailand. The program was jointly organized by the TSFT Program of FSG, UiTM and RMUTP, Phra Nakhon, Thailand. The UiTM delegates, led by Ts. Dr. Nur Ain Yusof, andaccompanying lecturer, Miss Najua Tulos, were warmly welcomed by the President of RMUTP Phra Nakhon, Assoc. Prof. Supatra Kosaiyakanont, and the Dean of Faculty of Industrial Textiles and Fashion Design, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattanaphol Mongkholrattanasit. The main objective of the program is to furnish the students with intercultural competence and distinctive skills and knowledge acquired by immersing in another international society. The programme consisted of a mixture of discussion session, a 5- days training programme on Textile Products Design and Development, and cultural and academic visits to various place of interests around Bangkok. During the training, the students were exposed to the production of natural dyes from plants, and experienced hands-on dyeing and printing of different techniques, from raw material to end products (bags and scarfs). Prior to the training, the students had the opportunity to participate in a discussion with RMUTP researchers on research that are currently conducted in UiTM and RMUTP. The fruitful session also discussed the possible collaborations between the two universities on research related to the field of study. The cultural and academic visits to The Grand Palace, Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall, Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre, and few other places provided unique Thai culture which focusing on traditional costumes and local fabrics. The program was concluded with a certificate giving ceremony to all participating students which was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattanaphol Mongkholrattanasit.
