Abstract
The Malaysian construction industry is rapidly growing throughout the year. In the course of time, Malaysia has been raising awareness and increasing the implementation of green building. Sustainable construction is one of the green building elements that aim to reduce environmental impacts and reduce operation and maintenance costs. The primary concern of building costs in Malaysia is only focusing on the initial cost of the construction without taking into consideration of cost after completion of the building. The construction project that produces excessive running costs during the operating stage is because of the failure to determine the whole life cycle building cost in the design stage. Life cycle costing is crucial to reduce the excessive cost of the project. However, there is various obstacle encountered to implement life cycle cost. The most critical problem in conducting life cycle costing is that it lacks reliability and accuracy of cost data. This study aims to determine the limitation to providing cost data management in life cycle costing (LCC) for project construction viability. The method used for this research is quantitative as it measures using numerical scale.
