Challenges of industrial revolution 4.0 to Malaysian construction industry

Ahead of this era of globalization human became more complex compared to the past. It comes to an era where machines and technology plays a big role in daily life. Construction industry also have gone through various of advancement in term of technology which include building information modelling (BIM), industrial building system (IBS) and so on. However, development is founded far-reaching implication of the increasingly digitalized and automated manufacturing environment are still widely unknown in Malaysia. Therefore, the aim of this study is to enhance the implementation of Industrial Revolution 4.0 among contractors in Malaysian construction industry. Hence, the objectives of this research are to identify the characteristic of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Malaysia construction industry, to determine the challenges of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Malaysian construction industry and to analyse the initiatives to promote the implementation of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Malaysia. The research methodology applied in this research was a quantitative method using questionnaire survey. Furthermore, the respondent in this study were contractor G7. The data obtain through the data collection were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28.0.
