The awareness level among quantity surveying students on the evolution of the quantity surveyor's roles and services

The involvement of construction professionals in the construction industry is one of the fundamental keys to ensure the construction process achieves its common goals. A quantity surveyor plays a significant impact on the construction industry as he deals with clients, architects and contractors in estimating a project's cost. In Malaysia, quantity surveying has developed as there is increased demand for buildings and the complexity of projects. Consequently, the quantity surveying profession faced many challenges, risks and threats to survive and sustain their services in construction or new sectors. Thus, it is a need for quantity surveying students to aware about the roles and services that have been diversified from traditional to modern roles. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the level of awareness among quantity surveying students towards the evolution of roles and services of quantity surveyor. Meanwhile, three objectives were formulated for this research which are: (1) to identify the types of evolution of quantity surveyor roles and services, (2) to determine the level of awareness among quantity surveying students toward the evolution of roles and services of quantity surveyor and (3) to analyse the challenges faced among quantity surveying students to adapt the evolved roles and services.
