Chess tournament: Azerbaijan National Leader Remembrance Day 2025 at Hotel UiTM

A chess tournament was held on 17 May 2925 at UiTM Hotel, Shah Alam, to commemorate the birthday of Heydar Aliyev, former President of Azerbaijan, as part of the Azerbaijan National Leader Remembrance Day 2025, The event was one of the numerous chess tournaments specially held as a recognition of Aliyev's contribution towards the development of chess both within Azerbaijan and internationally. It was also the third consecutive collaboration between the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) and The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kuala Lumpur, and was co-hosted by University Teknologi MARA Shah Alam. The chess tournament was further enlivened by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA and the Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia. Turkmenistan. Also present were representatives from the Embassy of Turkiye and the Embassy of Russia. The President of the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) was also in attendance. Through the spirit of friendly competition and collaboration, the event reflected UiTM's continued support for international engagement, intellectual exchange, and the promotion of cultural diplomacy through sports.
